This project consisted of two primary parts: creation of a transit-orientated housing development in Denver Colorado, and the design of a public building that would be a part of this community. The first part of the project was a team effort between me, three other architecture students and two landscape architecture students, the second part was an individual effort by each team mate. This section of my portfolio focuses on the second half of this project and the public facility I was assigned. | My task was to design an early childhood education center for the community. The concepts behind this building were very functional and straightforward: to design a place that would promote an interest and instill a love in the surrounding plants, animals, and their habitats. I wanted it to be fun, colorful, and inviting – a playful and dreamy place enveloped in the prairie and woodland that my team had designed. |
